nexus

have a feeling you used it a lot.
had an ok sound, you just need to diversify on the plugins a little.

VNStudios responds:

I overused Nexus a lot, but I haven't had much practice in making custom synths though I plan on learning once time permits. Thanks for the review!

thought "JL" stood for Justice League.
anywhoo, the song sounds like youjust changed volume on the instruments,
but you gotta do a little more, just seperate them into effect tracks and put parametric EQ on all of them, then find their "sweet spot".
well i guess it's not insanely simple,
just google "flstudio EQ sweet spot youtube" and there's a great video for how to get started.

JohnLeprechaun responds:

Thanks, I'll definitely check it out. I'm sure discovering that "JL" merely stood for little old me was a little disappointing.

woo

vocal tracks were kinda quiet, just bump the middle upper frequencies.
everything else was pretty nice

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

I'll be mucking in the mix for a while, I should have a better version up soon!! Thanks again, dude!!!

actually really good part writing

liked the e-piano, sounded great.
also, is that a little canon in D i hear?
but still, everything fit great, and things didn't get boring,
enjoyed :]

Tomppaah responds:

Haha, thanks very much! :D

that's not enough to even be a WIP, but i like the like the little thing you got going,
but the reese has some loud spots, put a compressor or a limiter on that bee-yotch.
still, i give credit where credit's due.

BlackVen0m responds:

I know, it seems a bit short but it is actually quite hard adding onto this short tune... x.x
I try many different synths, basses and other percussions to keep the flow going to extend it but it just seems that this bass is a very difficult one.

so.

the title was a sentence fragment, consider revising.
once the song got about haflway done, when the real trance kicked in, it felt like nothing happened, there wasn't enough energy in the 2nd half to make up for the first, but i like how it sounds.
i gueess you didn't put a ton of energy into it, but i'm juss sayin'
still, it was above par

weemeee responds:

This was done in less than an hour lol

lol

dude, that's an old song, but i think a lot of people can recognize it.
anyhow, this sounded more like hip hop, because the beat never really got huge, and there was a very faint (but it was nice) bassline.
but still, it's pretty good, hard to mess a classic like that up.
i liked the prescence of the drums,
good jorb, for 2 years old.

Sblounchked responds:

yeah im going to fix it all up tomorrow. i just decided to upload it after so long and after i realized it was all choppy. its 3 in the morning here so im not really in the mood to fix it but check out the fixed version when i upload it

there's actually a good bassline in the original

sounds like you were going for that flowing sound, but it still needs some sort of bassline, not just the chordal low notes.
just give it a higher attack, and cut the higher frequencies out.
but the bassline has a simple 1-5-9 progression on each chord, so you can just sound it out.
but i liked what was there,
so yeah!

Morien18 responds:

As far as musical talent goes, I can read sheet music, and apparently make certain remakes and whatnot. When I can't make a song by ear, no matter how hard I try, I resort to sheet music, and go by it to a definite point. Of course, here and there I make a few changes... :P When I used the sheet music, they did not include the "Bassline" as you call it. plus it sounds just fine to me. :P kinda gives the peaceful feel or something... but yeah, the reviewers call the shots, not me. So i'm gonna eat some chicken... or children... always get those two confused...

yes

drums unecessary,
but the message was beautiful.

ArisingFlame responds:

Drums fun. :D (Drunk)
Message, heartfelt.

woohhhh

sounds pretty wacky.
try to highten the frequncy on the drums, it's really bassy.
and if your entire drumset is on 1 mixer track, then split it, so each type of drum has a seperate track.
but very different, i've never heard anything like this to tell the truth.

ectsoman responds:

Thanks for the tip, I usually keep all my percussion on one track to minimize the cpu usage and to compress everything so I don't have to double up on effects, but I recently got a much better computer so I'll test that out :D
