use different instruments.

this peice couldve been better if you wouldve picked better instruments, and added ambient noises and well, made it not so 3-track.
work longer picking out instruments and TWEAK THEM for chrissakes. there are some good songs that go to waste beacause the writer was too lazy to make their own instruments.

saxpro responds:

ok, i'll see if i can tweak the instruments

ty for the review!

-Saxpro

what a coinkadink.

well at lest its got flare.
but its a little too generic for my tastes,
chord-wise.

Envy responds:

This songs going on Itunes for money and such. Why wouldn't I make it generic :3

generic name, lol

but a good song.
for your bass drum, put in bass boost and change the pitch every few bass kicks, so it doesnt get too repetetive.

its crowded

do some EQ and sort out the noise.
but it sounds like a good tune underneath.

MaXounet responds:

Yup, that's my main issue in my songs, equalisation and mix balance. Thanks for the hint.

next time

take time to pick different instruments that fit better.
the ocarina was right if you were going for direct mix,
but the ensemble was too loud and MIDI sounding (the ocarina was, too, but whatever)
the drums... i dunno just eq more and the drums wouldve fit, perhaps.
the piano sounded very midi and you should look into new synths that make very realistic sounding pianos for free. just google it.

DeathBasket responds:

Yeah, I can understand what you mean. I didn't edit it at all after I wrote all the music, which is probably why it sounds "MIDI". Then again, I'm not used to mixing/mastering on a computer at the moment.
The only instrument intended to sound "MIDI" was the Ocarina, since it is the Ocarina sound straight from the game.

what a fucking bass

had a wompy sound, lol.
didnt loop too well, but whatever,
the snare was too.. something,
its not right, fiddle with it a little bit.

look at waterpyro's review

not original,
but still worth a liten.
good job to whoever made it

its nice

add flavor.
well youre new to music "synthesis"
so here's the pickin'
music =
25% instruments picked
25% correct EQ
15% chords/actual writing
35% style.

if i'm wrong (which i probably am), then this is what i believe to be the basics to good music.

Refacull responds:

Thanks. I know I need flavor, but I just don't know what. I can listen to this once or twice and think its all good. But then I listen to armin van buuren and i can play his shit 12 hours straight, same 2 hour selection and its awesome the entire time.

and hey, if you collab with anybody

include me.
some styles can be mixed.
let's change the world.
lol.
and THIS is the bass i like to hear.
where do you pull samples from?
or do you create them somehow?

freddyfinger responds:

thanks, that would make for a very interesting collab haha. your music has a lot of creative, melodic progressive twists and turns; real good sounds. i get samples usually from soulseek and chop em up to my liking. thanks for all ur reviews man that's real awesome of you.

send some stuff into labels

you might catch a break!
although your style is more blues-y, maybe you could bring it back!
it like to hear more progressive basslines from you, becasue some of your songs only have dabs of bass, and it would sound better (to me) if the bass plucked more and strung farther, or had a more complicated rythm.

freddyfinger responds:

thanks, that'd be awesome but i'd probably have to get a little better heh. yeah i usually keep the bass brief because of the repetitiveness nature of the old school beats. i can try to work on something more progressive, maybe for some funky stuff.
